In our family, my dad is the one who loves to cook. He’s always experimenting with new recipes for us to try when we have our weekly family dinners. All of our immediate family congregate at our parents’ house usually on a Saturday or Sunday evening. It’s a family tradition that has been kept going since before we can even remember. Now that my siblings and I are adults, we enjoy going back to the home where we grew up.
A few of us chipped in and got our father a nice Cuisinart food processor as a gift this last holiday season, and it’s really upped his cooking skills. He’s made so many different things for us since then. His birthday was around the corner, so my mom suggested possibly looking into getting more parts for his Cuisinart food processor. She told me that there was a website that her sister was browsing on when she needed replacement parts for her food processor. I got to browsing one night, and of course could not remember the name of the website my mom mentioned. I did some digging and there it was: Kitchen Works Inc. This was the exact website my mom had mentioned that we should look into for my dad’s Cuisinart food processor replacement parts.
As I scrolled through the parts, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. I did not expect these to be actual parts manufactured by Cuisinart and not some third party company. I decided to get him some replacement blades for when the current ones started to dull (which would no doubt happen sooner than later with the level of his use), a larger bowl, a different sized food tube and a dough blade. I never expected that I could greatly contribute to the variety of things my dad was already making but here I was getting ready to do just that.
Needless to say, my dad was anxious to get started on making new recipes. He had never been much of a bread guy before, but now that he had his new dough blade, that started to change. He really enjoys making different kinds of bread now; savory AND sweet which has brought a whole new category to his repertoire. I can’t say there wasn’t an ulterior motive behind all this; I benefit greatly by getting special dishes and whatever leftovers I can get my hands on. It’s been really great for our whole family. We get to eat great homemade food with our family, and our father is super excited to have more to offer us. It’s really an enjoyable cycle and has even gotten us excited about cooking more and experimenting with our own families.
